OTHER KEY PROJECTS
In addition to OCE’s annual programs and initiatives, we work on other short-term campus engagement projects based on campus needs.
Here are some recent examples of our special projects work.
Community Care Day Pilot
The Office of the Vice President for Campus Life tasked the Office of Campus Engagement to pilot a new initiative and we launched Community Care Day on October 27, 2023. The idea of Community Care Day came directly from students, and encourages the entire campus to focus on rejuvenation, mindfulness, and community-building through participating in wide range of drop-in fun and calming offerings (see the full schedule by clicking the icon below).
OCE Executive Director Judy Jarvis is the project manager for the Community Care Day pilot and worked closely with an undergraduate student, a graduate student, faculty, and staff working group.
Tiger Tale
TigerTale is a student-led Office of Campus Engagement initiative dedicated to fostering belonging at Princeton through custom pins and events. We capture and share unique Princetonian identities among all Princetonians.
Created in Spring 2022 as an Entrepreneurship 200 final project by Sam Lee ‘24, Ben Cai ‘24, and Gigi Schadrack ‘24, TigerTale designs pins and hosts events that focus on shared informal experiences and identities, centered around things only Princetonians would know about, like the campus fox or being a peer leader.
First Families Weekend
In partnership with the Office of the Dean of the College, OCE co-led the 2021, 2022 and 2023 First-Year Family (FFW) Weekend offerings. FFW is an annual weekend-long series of events in September for family members of first-year students to get a taste of Princetons’s academics, student affairs and more. For more, click below.
Established and managed Virtual Programming Calendar
When Princeton academics and activities went remote in March of 2020, OCE established a centralized calendar for undergraduate and graduate students to use as a one-stop shop for seeing what virtual offerings they could participate in during their out-of-class time.
Conduct research on student needs
OCE works on a variety of research projects as needed by Campus Life and/or coalitions of campus partners. Some recent examples include researching peer institutions’ peer education structures; researching peer institutions’ approaches to virtual programming; and conducting an all-student survey on virtual programming needs.
